As 2024’s summer releases continue to pile up in our playlists, Detroit rapper 42 Dugg tosses his name in the ring with his new album 4eva Us Neva Them.
On his latest release, Dugg uses his unmistakable drawl and unconventional flows to continue his streak of street anthems over cinematic, orchestral production. Features from Meek Mill, Sexyy Red, Blac Youngsta, Rylo Rodriguez, EST Gee, Jeezy and Lil Baby all fit naturally on this project as the guests embrace 42 Dugg’s ambitious take on classic hood bangers.
Dugg’s last full-length project was Last Ones Left, a collab album with EST Gee, who rejoins 42 to go bar-for-bar on “Since When.” In fact, the only new collaborator on this album is Sexyy Red, who joins the Michigan rapper for “N.P.O.”, a freaky banger for couples that trap together.
With 21 songs and seven features, 42 Dugg runs most of the album himself, showcasing versatility throughout the hour-long runtime. Introspective cuts like “Fresh From the Feds” and “My Mama” give brief intermissions between relentless bangers as Dugg proves once again his reliability as a voice for the streets.
With another album locked down, 42 Dugg is sure to have more up his sleeve in the near future. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the young Detroit legend and enjoy 4eva Us Neva Them.
